Lessons from crisis regions and disaster response – what can I learn from them?

Forum event in collaboration with the Volkshochschule Nürnberger Land 
Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. at the BRK Center for Civil Protection and Disaster Relief, Hersbruck, Houbirgstraße 2.

How can we better prepare for crises and care for one another—both as individuals and as a society? 

This discussion evening focuses on preparedness and civil protection—key issues that form the foundation of our social life. The speakers will explore the interplay between politics, civil society, and personal engagement, and share their experiences at the local, national, and international levels. Through dialogue, the aim is to strengthen each individual’s motivation and scope for action—for greater safety and cohesion in challenging times.

Welcome remarks: District Administrator Armin Kroder  (1st Chair of the BRK Nürnberger Land District Association) and Robert Ilg (Mayor of Hersbruck)

The speakers: Wolfgang Groß – co-founder of humedica e.V., Klaus Maser – founder of Rescue.Care.Worldwide e.V., and Wolfgang Fürst – BRK disaster response coordinator.
